We are proud to honor the legacies of Amy Mogan, Kjersten Schladetzky and Penny Tabor — beloved members of the Tessitura team who were lost too soon. This scholarship will be awarded to three emerging leaders who demonstrate a passion for the arts and culture sector and aspire to advance their careers in the industry.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Lasting Legacy Scholarship for Emerging Leaders, you must:

Have 5+ years of experience in the arts & culture industry
Currently serve in a supervisor or managerial role
Demonstrate leadership skills and potential for leadership success
Be a first-time in-person TLCC attendee (including any TLCC Europe or TLCC Asia Pacific conference)
Be a full-time employee at a Tessitura member organization
Be able to attend the full conference

Application package

We will not review incomplete applications or any received after the deadline. All application packages must include:

A completed scholarship application
One letter of recommendation from a supervisor or peer

Letter of recommendation

A letter of recommendation from a supervisor, mentor, current or former colleague at your organization is a required part of this application. Your letter of recommendation must be uploaded when you submit your online application form.

Review process

The scholarship committee thoroughly reviews and evaluates each application. The committee strives to create a cohort of recipients who represent a wide array of institutions, expertise and backgrounds.
The scholarship committee judges applications based on their commitment to the arts & culture industry and potential for leadership success.

All applications are independently scored based on the following criteria:

The applicant provides very insightful responses that show ambition, passion and introspection.
The applicant has worked for five or more years in the arts & culture industry and demonstrates a breadth of experience and significant progress in their career so far.
The applicant provides very insightful responses that show ambition, passion and introspection.
The applicant shows a strong aptitude for leadership success and provides thoughtful examples that demonstrate leadership skills, such as strategic thinking, innovation, communication, empathy and humility.
The applicant provides an inspired, detailed description of their professional goals with a long-term commitment to the arts & culture industry.
The applicant clearly demonstrates a transformative impact that attending TLCC Washington, D.C., would have on their personal and professional growth.
The applicant is able to attend all of TLCC Washington, D.C.
The letter of recommendation speaks highly of the applicant’s value at their organization, includes glowing comments showing praise for the applicant, and a clear justification for attending the conference.

Application requirements

Applicants are required to upload the letter of recommendation with their application. The application includes the following questions:

How many years of experience in the arts & culture industry do you have? Briefly describe your experience so far.
Describe your role at your organization.
Why do you work in the arts & culture industry?
Define your leadership style and give examples of ways you are an emerging leader.
Briefly describe your professional goals for the next three to five years.
How will participating in TLCC Washington, D.C., help you in your role at your organization?
How might attending contribute to your professional development?
How do you plan to take insights learned at TLCC Washington, D.C., back to your organization?
Are you available to attend all of TLCC Washington, D.C., August 11–14, 2024, to the best of your ability?
