Development Update

Version 14.1 News

Now that Tessitura v14.0 is in general release, we have moved onto v14.1. In addition to the new Lists and Outputs functionality as part of the Business Intelligence Initiative, this release will include some really important features:

  • Data Protection Regulation Support: Version 14.1 will include functionality to help organizations comply with important European Union regulations. This functionality includes support for the “Right to be Forgotten,” which permanently removes personal information from constituent records; and “Protected Individuals,” which allows only certified users to view certain accounts.

  • Bulk Copy (final name TBD): This new feature will let you easily create a long run of a single event/performance or a daily schedule of events, including packages, for a specified period of dates.

  • Pricing Rules Enhancement: In v14.1 you can map price types for most types of pricing rules so a single pricing rule can change. For example, an Adult price type can change to Adult Member and a Child price type can change to Child Member.

  • Guest Checkout Enhancements: We are making changes to the API and cart functionality to make real guest checkout much easier.

  • New Credit Card Handling Features: Version 14.1 will introduce a new way of installing Tessitura to make PCI certification much easier for users that will be using validated Point-to-Point Encrypted devices only.

Business Intelligence Initiative

The BI team is energized by the enthusiastic reactions we received at TLCC! We are hard at work on Version 14.1 where we plan to introduce the updated List Manager application. We are also preparing a preview of Tessitura Analytics in v14.1, so stay tuned for details in upcoming announcements.

Version 14 Service Packs

We’ve moved to a Service Pack model for releasing software fixes with the release of Version 14.0. This is an important milestone and also something that the community has requested for some time. Read all about Service Packs right here.

Tessitura SOAP API End of Life Set for 2019

In February, we announced an important milestone in Tessitura development. With Version 14 comes the first version of the new REST API that can handle the transactional functionality needed for websites and other applications. With that, we have begun the phase out of the legacy SOAP API. You can read much more about this here.

Development Sandbox Now with V.14

The Development sandbox has been updated with v14 and we invite you to log in and try out some of the new features, including Resource Scheduling. You can also experiment with other new features like the newly redesigned Payments Window, Contact Point Permissions and much more. As one of Tessitura Network’s founders, Chuck Reif has been with the company since its inception and remains a technical leader for Tessitura.

As Chief Engineer and Co-Founder, Chuck works closely with Chief Innovation Office John Jakovich to oversee the technical direction of the company and the future functionality of the Tessitura platform.

Chuck joined Tessitura Network from the Metropolitan Opera, where he was project manager for the development of the original Tessitura software. Initially in charge of IT for the Met’s Marketing and Development departments, he became Assistant Director of IT and was responsible for administering the systems that were eventually replaced by Tessitura. Chuck then led the organization-wide effort to design and build what was then called Impresario Software — an extensive project that involved all customer-facing departments over a three and a half year period. 

Prior to his career in technology, Chuck worked in the theatre as a professional stage manager for Broadway and national touring productions of such shows as The King and I with Yul Brynner, Hello Dolly with Carol Channing and The Music Man with Dick Van Dyke. After seven years backstage, he began consulting with Broadway producers, helping them to implement effective uses of computer technology. One of his projects at the time was to write the program that tracked the casts of Cats all over the world. 

Chuck has a Bachelor of Education (Music and Theatre) from Northern Illinois University. The early years of his career found him doing social work in London, managing a marina in the Virgin Islands and renovating apartments in New York City. But from a very young age he wanted to work in the theatre and is therefore thrilled that the arts are still a major focus of his work. Chuck lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, where he enjoys skiing, hiking and cycling.
