Tessitura Network has announced an impressive line-up of speakers

and general sessions for the 2019 Tessitura Learning and Community Conference (TLCC). The conference, the largest global gathering of arts and cultural professionals, will be held July 28 – August 1 in Chicago, Illinois.

This year’s speakers will shine the light on audiences — from choosing an ethos of accessibility, using creativity to form connections, and reimagining spaces to redefine the relationship between audiences and artists.

The lineup includes:

Keynote: Welcoming the Widest Possible Audience

Are we welcoming all audiences into our buildings, content, programming, and experiences? Are there things we could be doing that would make our offerings not feel excluding for our visitors and colleagues?

The 2019 keynote session is presented by Sina Bahram, founder of inclusive design firm Prime Access Consulting (PAC). Sina will take attendees through the ethos of inclusive design and show how accessibility is a side effect of following such a methodology. In addition, he will provide many examples and success stories of implementing this way of thinking about our world and the environments we build for our guests.

The next installment of Tessitura’s Innovator Series delves into innovative ways arts and cultural organizations can reach audiences.

Truly Integrating Volunteers and Interns into Your Organization

Nicole Smith of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County will explore how volunteer and internship programs can advance your organizational mission.

Creating a State of the Imagination Theater

Criss Henderson and Chris Plevin of Chicago Shakespeare Theater will discuss the new venue The Yard and how the use of space can impact relationships with audiences. 

Music for Life: The Power of Creativity for People Living with Dementia

Daisy Swift of Wigmore Hall will speak about how the arts can play a critical role in building a dementia-friendly society.

Voices from the Tessitura Network Leadership

Rounding out the week’s general session offerings are talks by Tessitura Network leadership. These will highlight the incredible work achieved by Tessitura member organizations, capitalize on the momentum we have moving forward, and explore the unique community that is the pulse of the Network.
