Tessitura announced today the appointment of Tarsha Whitaker Calloway as the Vice President of Philanthropy.
Calloway, a veteran of cultural institutions such as the Woodruff Arts Center as well as corporate entities such as Marriott International and US Airways, brings a high level of expertise in fundraising and strategy, in addition to extensive management experience in marketing and sales.
Tessitura, a not-for-profit member-owned cooperative, has added this new role to its leadership team to cultivate philanthropic support for Tessitura’s efforts to sustainably advance the arts and culture industry.
Tessitura creates technology, designs services, and cultivates community with the goal of helping the arts and culture sector thrive. This work is critical at this moment, as the sector works to reopen and rebuild after the devastating closures of the pandemic. Developing philanthropic support and finding the right partners will be a key element of Tessitura’s work toward building an equitable and sustainable future for arts and culture.
“I am thrilled to be joining an organization that bridges together art, culture, and technology with a not-for-profit ethos,” Ms. Calloway said. “I look forward to building an international philanthropy portfolio that includes corporate, individual, and foundation support for Tessitura’s mission.
“Tarsha Calloway is a visionary alliance builder with a passion for arts and culture, and I cannot wait to partner with her in this new chapter for our organization,” said Andrew Recinos, President & CEO of Tessitura. “As we look ahead to a time of great change and uncertainty for arts and culture, we recognize Tessitura’s important role in helping to ensure the vibrancy of the sector. With this announcement, we will look to partners and funders to help scale and accelerate our efforts on behalf of the industry.”
Ms. Calloway holds an M.B.A. in International Business from Mercer University Stetson School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Theater from Texas Southern University. Her international expertise will be a key element in her work with Tessitura, which serves more than 725 institutions in ten countries across North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Ms. Calloway began in the role at the end of June 2021.
