Version 15 Development

Tessitura Version 15 with the eagerly-anticipated release of Tessitura Analytics is close to completion! Our current schedule has the beta period starting in the first part of June with a release to follow TLCC sometime in August. If you haven’t already, you can read all about the release schedule and upgrade options in this Support Alert.

Aside from Tessitura Analytics, Version 15 contains some other exciting features, including for the first time the ability to use Windows credentials to log into Tessitura — more information on this below. We are also completely rewriting the Report Server for Version 15, combining the functionality of the Print At Home Server and the Report Server into a new Windows service, called Tessitura Processing Service or TPS. Eventually we see this as an all-purpose processing service which will handle many different types of Tessitura tasks, including things like emailing confirmations.

At the same time that we are completing Version 15.0, we continue to develop the following version of Tessitura which will include new Membership features and a focus on rewriting the Constituents area of the application in a web-based interface. We will also be working on making sure that all of our new web application code adheres to WC3 Accessibility Guidelines.

Version 15 Windows Authentication

In Version 15 you will have ability to use your Windows domain credentials to log into Tessitura. That means that can choose to associate a Windows domain user with a Tessitura security profile as shown here. Notice also that such Tessitura users no longer have individual logins to SQL Server.

When a user that is configured in this fashion logs into Tessitura and we can validate that they are already logged into Windows, they will not have to log into Tessitura again. Here’s what they will see in such a case — no place to even type in a username or password:

It will still be possible to change user groups or manually log into Tessitura with your Windows credentials if for some reason our service can’t authenticate you automatically. In that case the login window will look like this:

A single Tessitura user id can be either be mapped to a Windows user or a be traditional Tessitura user with a separate Tessitura password, so this is entirely optional. If you use Windows Authentication SQL Server will still log all changes as being made by the Tessitura user id. And all security rights to the Tessitura application are still stored in Tessitura Security. Note that Windows authentication also works with Tessitura Web.
